A local surf instructor, not a seasonal one
I am Reda. I grew up on this coast and I have been teaching surfing in Taghazout for more than ten years.
That matters more than it sounds. Conditions here change from one beach to the next, and from one hour to the next. Most mornings I check the swell before I decide where we go.
Groups stay small, four or five people at most. You get corrected in the water rather than shouted at from the beach.
I teach in English, French and Arabic, plus basic German, and I cover Taghazout, Tamraght and Agadir. More about the school.

Your first lesson
What actually happens
We pick the beach that morning
Panoramas, Banana Beach or Devil’s Rock in Tamraght, depending on the swell and your level.
Theory and warm-up on the sand
Safety, reading the water, board handling and the pop-up. Nobody goes in cold.
Into the whitewater, with me beside you
Most people stand up in their first session. Riding an unbroken green wave usually takes about three.
Where you surf
Beginners never start at Anchor Point
Taghazout is famous for its right-hand point breaks. Those break over reef and they are not where you learn.
You start on sand. Panoramas Beach and Banana Beach in Aourir, also called Banana Point, are gentle and forgiving.
Devil’s Rock in Tamraght comes in once you are ready for a green wave. Anchor Point, Killer Point and Hash Point stay on the list for later — all eleven are in the Morocco surf spots guide.
Getting here
Agadir airport is 35 minutes away
Fly into Agadir (AGA) and you are on the beach the same afternoon. I can arrange a transfer to Taghazout or Tamraght with your booking.
You will not need a car. Everything in Taghazout and Tamraght is walkable or a cheap taxi ride, and I handle transport to whichever beach we are surfing. There is plenty to fill the flat days too — see things to do in Taghazout.

Common questions
How much are surf lessons in Taghazout?
Open group surf lessons are 25 EUR per person for a 2 to 2.5 hour session, including surfboard, wetsuit and water. A private group lesson is 30 to 35 EUR per person and one-to-one coaching is 40 to 45 EUR per person.
Do I need any experience to learn to surf in Taghazout?
No. Beginners start on sandy beach breaks such as Panoramas and Banana Beach, where the wave breaks gently and you can still stand up. Every lesson begins with a briefing on the sand.
What is the best surf spot in Taghazout for beginners?
Panoramas Beach and Banana Beach, also known as Banana Point, are the two most reliable. Both are sandy and protected. Anchor Point and the other Taghazout point breaks are reef waves for intermediate and advanced surfers.
How far is Taghazout from Agadir airport?
Agadir Airport (AGA) is about 30 to 40 minutes by road from Taghazout. I can arrange a transfer to Taghazout or Tamraght alongside your booking.
Do I need to bring a wetsuit and surfboard to Morocco?
No. A soft-top board and a wetsuit in your size are included in every lesson. Boards and wetsuits are also available to rent separately by the day or the week.
What languages do you teach in?
English, French and Arabic, plus basic German. Most of the teaching happens through demonstration on the sand and correction in the water, so language is rarely a barrier.
When is the best time to surf in Taghazout?
October to April brings the biggest and most consistent Atlantic swells, which suits improving and experienced surfers. May to September is smaller and gentler, which is better if you are learning from scratch.
